Route 50 East heading home Day 4

I would like to begin by telling you this was the hardest day for me thus far. What can I say stands out about Kansas? Let's begin with 112 degrees and 50 mph wind gusts. Kansas beat me up today. Now for the scenery. Flat land, corn, wheat, grain fed cattle ranches, windmill farms, junk yards and not so lovely aroma's. It is a pretty state because of all the agriculture. Here is a sample of what we saw.
Here's a cute one for you. "Poor dog I bet he wished he could hold his nose because of all the cow manure" Moving down the road at 70 mph.

On to quaint towns. Boggsville Kansas.

Another small town in Kansas, Cimarron.
Dodge City Kansas

  1. Sounds like you will be glad to be out of Kansas. You are obviously not as impressed as Dorothy (there's no place like home)! I remember when we went thru Iowa they had those windmills everywhere. I haven't seen an old junk yard for a long time. Hope tomorrow brings lower temperatures and not such high winds. Give me a call if you get a chance. Take care, love you. Kathy

Nice pics, glad you are enjoying your trip, makes me jealous. Wish we could take a trip but Pat is getting old, ha! Wouldn't go the way you went at this age either. See ya soon.

  3. You must be bringing all the heat east with you! It is supposed to be 104 here today! (Although we are in AC and not on a motorcycle!) They have those wind turbines in parts of Ohio - obviously, they work well where it is FLAT! I would like to have one in our back yard - Greg says "no"!
    Safe travels today :-)
    Love,
    Greg and Beth
