California or Bust Day 4

We want you to know that we really appreciate the comments.

This has been the best day yet. We took 99 pictures today and three videos so lets get started. Looked like rain in the morning so I put on my rain gear.
This court house was the setting in the movie "Grapes of Wrath" Completely restored.
Next stop was Erick Ok. Looks like it was the only place in town was "Annabelle and Harleys". They are not liked by the local government because every thing in the store is donation only so they do not pay taxes. She is sick with cancer yet they are the sweetest people you could ever met. They put on a show for us and we will try and upload a video but it will not do the singing justice.
Its true what they say about Texas, the sky is bigger. WOW !! The  gas station below was used in the movie CARS.
We visited the High Plains in Groom Texas. The Cross is 190 feet tall and can be seen from 20 miles away. This was a very humbling experience. These life size figures make you feel like your standing next to Jesus and other members of the bible.

Here we are at the mid point,  soooo what did we do to celebrate, eat a piece of pie. Then we were on our way to New Mexico.

This is the famous Blue Swallow Motel in Tucamari New Mexico. We will be spending all day tomorrow going through New Mexico. More pictures of the terrain.

First video is us taking the lead of our group.

  2. Those pictures are wonderful. Those statues are totally awesome and I am sure very emotional to see. You are definitely getting the best of this trip and the best part, besides all these neat places you are going to, is the chance to talk to all the local people. Im sure you are getting a lot of detail and stories about the areas from them. So much fun!! Also, I am so glad you have found such a special group to travel with. Have another great day. Looks like the weather is just perfect...those Texas skies are beautiful, Enjoy, take care and love you both. Kathy

  3. Another day on your journey .... looks like it was a great one! It must make you excited for the sights ahead for today! WE can't wait to see them! Talking to the "locals" along the way is the best way to really see the countryside! Prayers for sunshine and safe travels are streaming your way!
