Heading North on the Pacific Coast Highway

If you follow the news then you are aware that the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) suffered severe damage due to record rainfall this spring. It is closed in two sections which closes about 50 miles of the road. We entered the PCH in Santa Monica after leaving the pier on Sunday and got a hotel room in Atascadera Ca. We picked the road up where we left off and rode it North to where it is shut down. This is a ride we have had on our bucket list,  everything about it exceeded our expectations. The weather was perfect 72 degrees, bright cloudless sky and almost no traffic. Perfect!!! See for yourself.

Hearst Castle this was as close as we would get.
We have not made a trip across country without waiting on road work.
