Crater Lake

We woke up anxious to begin our day. We had heard nothing but wonderful things about Crater Lake. As we entered the park our first view was an 11 mile straight road to the mountain. For those who don't know anything about Crater Lake here goes. Crater Lake was once a 12000 ft mountain which erupted about 7700 years ago. It basically imploded in on its self sealing the bottom. All the water in the lake (1943 feet deep) is from snow and rain only . It holds the record for the clearest water in the world. You can see up to 140 feet down, unbelievable. From here we will let the pictures tell the story. Believe me when I say they don't do it justice. The water is so blue it almost looked purple. We froze our butts off getting there, but worth every minute. Another mind blowing day in God's wonderous creation. Bev, Bob, Philip and I thank you for sharing with us.

  2. Love these pictures......looks a little chilly, but beautiful!! Hopefully your trip today was a little warmer. John is riding his bike up to Mom's on Thursday, so hopefully we will get a chance to see him. Be safe and take care. Love you, Kathy

  3. How come Bob is not making any snowballs like he did when we went to Yellowstone? He doesn't even have to go down the cliff to get the snow, it's right along the road.
    Beautiful pictures of the lake!
