Started this final day a little disappointed that our trip was almost over. We have now traveled every inch of the Blue Ridge parkway even tho not all in one trip. The pavement used to construct the Blue Ridge Parkway is very abrasive and hard on tires. Anyone who rides a motorcycle knows how quickly rear tires wear out as is and the rear was wearing much faster than I thought. We decided not to finish the entire parkway and headed west through North Carolina, Virginia, Tenn. and ended up in Barbourville Kentucky. Becky had not seen Cumberland Falls and since it is a state park and not federal one we knew it would be open so we decided to stop by there on the way home.
We are now back home again in Indiana, We were gone for four nights and five days. Traveled over 1450 miles and only had rain the last morning on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Heading back out west next summer, until next time ....

Blue Ridge Parkway Last Day
We started out today with cold temps and rain. The weather forecast had been clear sky's for the whole week. It is amazing how bad the weather people are at their jobs. Due to the government shut down we were not able to visit any of the visitors centers. They took the time to barricade the entrance to all centers and all gifts shops. Thanks Mr. Obama. Since we could not spend time at these places we finished the parkway faster than we planned. Therefore we are in Kentucky and will be going to Cumberland falls tomorrow. Pictures to follow.

Day Three Blue Ridge Parkway
Day three started at the South entrance of Skyline Drive and the North entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have pictures of our government in action with the closure of Skyline drive. It was a cold beginning to the day with temperatures in the 40's and when we ended the day it was in the 60's. We are in Hillsville Va. eight miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. We saw seven deer and even got a picture of two of them. The scenery was beautiful but we are a couple weeks early on the leaves changing colors.

We're off again to the Blue Ridge Parkway
Our original plans were to ride the entire length of Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We left Monday taking the back roads through Indiana and northern Kentucky ending day one at Becky's moms in Athens Ohio. Thanks to our wonderful congress and dictator Commander and Chief our plans for this trip had to be altered. Skyline Drive is closed, and all the visitors centers on the Blue Ridge Parkway are as well. Day one included stops in Augusta Kentucky where we visited Rose Mary Cloneys house and the town where George Cloney grew up. It also has a working ferry across the Ohio River. A cool little town.
Day Two Started off from Becky's mothers house. Thanks again mom for the Millers chicken it was delicious. It was a little chilly when we left Tuesday morning but it warmed up nicely. This was a travel day through Ohio, West Virginia, and Virginia. The Route 250 through West Virginia, Virginia was an excellent motorcycle road with great scenery.
These images are of a very large water sprinkler and flower pot in the historic section of Stauton Va. which is where we ended Day Two.
